It is the desire and goal of the entire
staff at the Fort Carson Close Combat Tactical Trainer
(CCTT) that the soldiers of Fort Carson receive the absolute best
training possible when using the CCTT. However, the staff at the
Fort Carson CCTT only operates the equipment of the system to facilitate
the units training. Therefore the value of the training units receive
when using the CCTT is only as good as the planning, preparation,
and coordination the unit trainers put into the exercise both prior
to and during use of the CCTT. The following are some suggestions,
which if implemented will help ensure maximum benefit is achieved
from the CCTT. For those of you that have used the Fort Carson CCTT,
please contact me if you have suggestions on how training at the
Fort Carson CCTT could be improved.
Bring supplies for overlays (acetate,
markers, tape, etc).
Exercises should be proofed 2 weeks prior
to training. Proofing consists of actually putting personnel
knowledgeable with the training goals and objectives in a simulator to
ensure the exercise meets the commander's intent of the training.
Insure coordination and planning are
complete (e.g. training start times, number and type of simulators to
used, overlays of exercise available, operations order completed,
etc).
Bring leaders to site for Recon prior to
training.
Check CVCs and any other unit provided
equipment used during the training for serviceability.
Hands on Component (HOC) training should
be conducted at least the day before start of the actual training
exercise.
Crew integrity is essential; don't make
last minute temporary crew position changes just to put crews in the
simulators. Such crews only get minimal benefit from the
training.
During
Training
Knowledgeable O.C (recommended at least
an E6) that is capable of both overseeing the conduct of the training
and conduct the AAR.
